Heather Lawrie Smith started in the real estate business in Door County, WI in 1994 after an exciting career in politics.  Upon completion of college with a Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Heather worked for the United States Senate in Washington, D.C. She had the privilege of seeing how our government works first hand. After working in the fast pace environment of politics, Heather realized she didn’t want to do it forever!  Then realized she wanted to be in the right "DC," the one called Door County.

Heather has the pleasure of being 5th generation from Door County and never really had the chance to live in this beautiful place for very long and enjoy it as a result of her father being a career military officer for her entire childhood.  Heather's family moved 26 times while growing up and lived in some great places to include Hawaii, Alaska, Germany, California, Rhode Island and Virginia - just to name a few.

In 1992, Heather moved back to Door County full-time and I met her husband to be, Jim Smith who practices law in Door County. Jim’s primary focus has always been on land use and real estate and Heather enjoyed hearing some of the stories about his career. The two of them were talking about the real estate business one day and Heather dove right in, got her real estate sales license and broker’s license at the same time and never looked back.   Jim has really rubbed off on her.  In her spare time, when not selling real estate or being a Mom, Heather is studying the law!

Heather Smith founded a real estate company in Door County, WI in 1994. Smith said, "I love this business and see myself doing this for the rest of my life. There is nothing better than assisting families as they make real estate choices whether it be selling or buying.  Just this year, I met Joyce Bytof, the CEO of Coldwell Banker The Real Estate Group and we hit it off the minute we met.  And as a result, we merged just this May! There is nothing better than being part of something big and really being able to utilize the services of a large company that offers many benefits to our buyers and sellers right here in Door County."

When Heather is not busy selling real estate she enjoys being a wife and a mother.  In late 2008, Jim and Heather adopted two beautiful girls from Ukraine, Ana (now 12) and Dasha (now 10) they’ve adjusted to living in America just beautifully. In her few moments of spare time, she also enjoys gardening, spending time with her horses, daughters and visiting their cottage on Clark Lake.
